By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to:

  1. Explain why hand hygiene is critical to cleanroom sterility.
  2. Prepare for handwashing by removing personal items and rolling sleeves appropriately.
  3. Demonstrate the correct sequence for hand and arm washing, including timing requirements.
  4. Apply the recommended scrubbing motions (palms, backs of hands, interlaced fingers, thumbs, palms, arms to elbows).
  5. Perform proper rinsing technique while maintaining aseptic positioning of the hands.
  6. Dry hands using sterile, low-lint towels without causing skin irritation or shedding.
  7. Apply alcohol-based hand rub to cover the entire hand surface prior to gloving.
  8. Integrate hand hygiene into the gowning sequence before donning sterile gloves.
