Learning Objectives

By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to:

  1. List the components of USP <797> competency testing in aseptic manipulation.
  2. Explain the purpose of additional fingertip sampling after media fill.
  3. Describe the correct gowning sequence and its importance in contamination prevention.
  4. Demonstrate the proper removal of personal items prior to gowning.
  5. Apply proper techniques for donning each piece of garb (bouffant, beard cover, mask, hood, shoe/boot covers) in the correct order.
  6. Differentiate between the dirty side and clean side of the gowning bench and explain their purpose.
  7. Perform hand hygiene at the correct stage of the gowning sequence.
